Bill was a canoe guide in the Bounary Waters in the mid-1960s with the Boy Scouts. While there, he developed a love
for quality wood and wood canvas canoes. He was lucky enough to aquire one of Joe Seliga's prized wood canvas canoes.
(Joe built handcrafted canoes in Ely, Minnesota, for years and years).
An important characteristic of all wood canvas canoes is that they periodically need re-canvasing and repair. So, Bill
trusted us with his prize long enough to do extensive repairs. This was a great summer restoration project for us!
Dean, Bill's son who also spent time in the Boundary Waters in the 1980s, has inherited the canoe. Because Dean lives
in Switzerland, Bill built a special crate, arranged for shipping, and waved good-bye to an old friend. We know the
canoe will be cherished for generations to come!
