Good buddies Bart and Jack joined us in the shop to build AND varnish this exquisite canoe. Both Bart and Jack had recently retired from law enforcement. Bart was of Swedish descent, and Jack was of Cherokee descent. The two combined symbols of their heritages on the deck (see photo below) to include a Swedish Thor's hammer and an Indian head silver dollar. In addition, the deck uses oak, harvested from Bart's family farm, and osage (hedge), which is the wood preferred by Native Americans for making bows (something that Jack does). What a unique canoe!

We send out a special thanks to this team for sharing stories of their many years in law enforcement! We'll never forget some of the close calls you two had! We are glad that you are safe and sound now with your new canoe!
